Alaska Garden & Pet Supply, d.b.a Alaska Mill Feed and Garden Center announces Employee Ownership Plan
Leaving behind a family legacy and a part of local heritage, the Donatello Family has announced that they are converting the company to an ESOP, or Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
Ken Sherwood, CEO, said he feels like this action, “is the best way to promote and support a successful and respected Alaskan business and at the same time provide an ownership opportunity for all of the employees.” Alaska Garden & Pet Supply and Alaska Mill Feed and Garden Center currently employ 65 people.
“Today’s announcement reflects the mission and spirit of Alaska Mill and Feed,” said Joel Klessens, President. “Our employees invest a lot of themselves in their work. As a result, they build relationships with a customer, which creates a positive relationships throughout the community. So for them to reap the benefits of that success is very fitting.”
The growth of Alaska Mill and Feed and the focus on continuous improvement have had a positive impact on the company. “It’s hard to not have a good experience at Alaska Mill and Feed,” added Joel Klessens, “and that’s what makes us so proud of today’s announcement.
