Friends of Pets was founded in 1989 as an advocate for the animals at the Anchorage Animal Care & Control Center. FOP is a non-profit organization staffed entirely by volunteers and supported by donations.
Congratulations to Tanner the golden lab, this year's 2008 Alaska Pet Idol! A grand total of $3,957 was raised for Friends of Pets!!! Congratulations to all of our contestants including Eddie the yorkie (second) and Dexter Manly the pug (third). Thank you to everyone who participated, voted and cheered to make this year's Pet Idol the best yet!
The Alaska SPCA is a private, non-profit organization funded by donations and thrift shop proceeds. Alaska SPCA does not receive any funding from government sources, nor are they affiliated with any national organization. All proceeds from their services benefit Alaska SPCA shelter animals and programs.
